Orbit Research Ltd was founded in 1994 by chartered engineers Ian Jones and Dr
Gavin Foster. Initially, the company developed systems for the Inmarsat coast earth
station segment, especially an Enhanced Automatic Frequency Controller (EAFC),
which uses received pilot frequency data to deduce and remove satellite doppler
error.
Since then the company has developed a sucessful range of satellite carrier
monitoring systems, with database-linked storage of test and measurement data.
The systems can control a range of different spectrum analysers and RF switch
combinations, and can carry out automated testing and reporting of signal fault
conditions.
We have developed a successful remote control and monitoring suite, which can be
adapted for large or small earth stations, and is in use throughout the world.
Working in partnership with Eutelsat, Orbit Research Ltd provides high bandwidth
satellite IP solutions for business clients using a range of VSAT terminals.
We undertake a range of bespoke design and development contracts for system
integrators and manufacturers.
Orbit Reseach is also active in promoting education links and works with a number
of organisations to raise awareness of space as a potential career path for young
people.
